PROJECT NEWS
South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (SSMMA) is excited and already laying the groundwork for Phase 2 of this study focused on furthering implementation programs and execution of development projects.

As part of Phase 2 of the Transit Region Initiative (beginning in early 2011), SSMMA will work with stakeholder communities to identify three (3) station areas for further in-depth analysis and implementation of transit-oriented development projects and programs.   This phase will address preliminary entitlement issues such as conceptual site planning, zoning, access/circulation, public infrastructure systems, development incentives, and estimated return on investment.

SSMMA invites you to nominate development sites within your community’s station area (within ˝ mile of train station) to be included in this Phase 2 study.  Please send us information on the particular site(s) you select (acreage, ownership, conditions, etc.), general criteria for site selection (within an existing station area, community had an adopted TOD plan for the area, Village owns the site or knows that the owner is willing to sell), and implementation priorities you have in mind for the particular site(s) (e.g. in-depth market analysis, developer recruitment, site remediation, zoning amendment, streetscape design, funding strategy, etc.) Please email your site selections to Reggie Greenwood at reggie.greenwood@ssmma.org no later than February 7th, 2011.

Join us at the upcoming CSEDC Quarterly Forum on January 28th, 2011 at 8:30am for the final presentation of our Phase 1 Study.  The Forum will be held at South Suburban College’s Performing Arts Center located at 15800 South State Street in South Holland. We look forward to receiving your nominations and working together on furthering our region’s economic strength and sustainable growth. Thank you.
